That's RIGHT Dudes and Dudettes!
It was October 18, 1985 that Nintendo released the "Deluxe Set" in North America! It was a turning point in gaming history, and one that would kick of the revival of a dying industry.
At the time, toy retailers were wary to stock video games due to previous disasters (such as, the downfall of Atari). Part of Nintendo's marketing strategy of the Nintendo Entertainment System was to present it as a toy, as opposed to electronic entertainment. This is a big reason a "Robotic Operating Buddy" was included with EVERY Deluxe Set!
Retailers stocked the NES for the coming holiday season, and the rest is history. We TRUELY owe a lot to this little guy.
